Rumor: massive software updates for iPhone soon

From Ars Technica:

Despite an apparent trend in positive reports about the iPhone, both from published reviews and firsthand accounts, there has been plenty of constructive criticism. Setting aside complaints related to hardware or the network (such as AT&T’s EDGE network), there have also been points made about software. John Gruber of Daring Fireball wrote about the crappy interface and lack of syncing in the Notes application, which also led him to this conclusion.

They go on to spell out the yummy update rumor:

• iChat-like instant messaging program
• custom ringtones
• enhanced Leopard integration
• file browser
• auto-discovering file sharing
• “Spotlight-like” search
• Exchange support beyond IMAP
• “mobile” iWork support
• Flash plug-in

We can only hope! I think the iPhone is an incredible product . . . and, because it’s Apple, people are going to focus on what it’s NOT got. Even though it is, hands-down, the best phone on the market today.

  1. Wow, those sound great. I wonder if they will be able to correct the white balance issue in the camera as well? I’ve experienced and seen way too many reviews referencing that.
