Paste Attributes in Final Cut Pro
Paste Attributes is the most awesomest command in Final Cut Pro. At least in my opinion. It allows you to copy certain attributes of one clip and paste them on another clip. This technique can really kick your video editing productivity up a notch and help you become a Final Cut Pro Guru.
Copy the source clip (Command-C) and then Paste Attributes on the target clip (Option-V), and you get this dialog box:

As you can see, you can choose from which Video or Audio attributes to past on the target clip. The “Scale Attribute Times” will scale anything you’ve animated longer or shorter to the relative size of the target clip. Some powerful uses of the Paste Attributes command:
• Get all of your graphics of a similar type (titles, lower third, logo bug) in the same position by pasting Basic Motion
• Moving different codecs with different aspect ratios between timelines and they’re showing up squished or stretched or somehow distorted? Correct one of them using the “Conform to Sequence” command, copy it, then Paste Attributes / Distort on all of the other clips. Yes, you can paste attributes on more than one clip.
• Copy a specific color correction filter to multiple clips from the same camera with Paste Attributes / Filters.
• Get all of your audio at the same level with Paste Attributes / Audio Attributes / Level
These are just a few ways to use the uber-powerful Paste Attributes command in Final Cut Pro. Got a great way that you like to use it? Leave a comment so we can all learn from your wisdom.
